5 Ideas for your Wedding Suit | Do's and Dont's
Don’t go mainstream! Everyone is wearing a suit at your wedding, you want to stand out, not too much, but enough to look like you’re the groom.
Tip 1. Go Boutique, whilst everyone has brought their suit from the 3 most common shops (you know who), you’ve gone for a classy little designer number that’s edgy and different.
Tip 2. Doesn’t have to be bespoke. Although bespoke tailoring makes you feel good, it doesn’t always make you stand out. Too often gents spend a lot of $$$ on a bespoke suit, but when you stand next to your best man in his well-made fitted charcoal suit that was bought online, you actually look identical, the only difference is that he didn’t spend $800 - $1200.
Tip 3. Small intricacies make a big difference. A little difference in the lapel or a little trim on the pockets can help. The designer ‘Blade Sleeve Suit’ has glorious intricacies to make you stand apart. A beautifully designed sleeve that splits down from the elbow to reveal a fused satin sheath. Match it with a bow-tie and suspenders and your suit is on point.
Tip 4. Ensure the suit is fitted. Shoulders, Chest, Waist, Arm length and Pants length, they’re the main ones. You can buy online or off the rack but ensure you have a little tailoring done if the suit requires it. Check out this size clip for more info.
Tip 5. Be contemporary and edgy. Traditional suiting tended to have wider lapels, longer jacket length and broader fit. Try to stay slick and sophisticated on your big day. You can still ask the boys to wear button style suspenders if you want a little old school class, but do it with style!

2018 High School Formal | Prom: Do's and Don'ts ... Nail it!
Please don’t wear a cummerbund! Although some fashionista’s have attempted to bring this item back it should really only be seen on an 80’s teen film in 2018.
Be edgy, be unique and you can still find ways to stand out from the crowd but in a way that is both urban and current. A stylish bow tie and/or button style suspenders, a little hint of class from the Gatsby era is a good way to go. Your suit jacket is important but you will take it off shortly after entering the dining room when you sit down for your meal, so you still need an accessory to make you stand out as you blaze through the night.
When you pick a suit, look at the small intricacies that set your suit apart. A slightly different lapel but still keep the width slim, be careful not to look like Tony Montana from Scarface aka mobster boss (before your time). Although ‘Scarface’ is still one of the finest gangster films ever made, you’re not the head of a drug cartel in Southern Florida, so please don't dress like one...have some class man!
You want to look slick and sophisticated but be comfortable in your suit. The designer ‘Blade Sleeve Suit’ has small intricacies to make you stand out. A beautifully designed sleeve that splits down from the elbow to reveal a fused satin sheath. A little matching trim on the chest and waist pockets gives you a little edge to match your shirt and bow-tie. This suit is fitted/tapered with slightly shorter length than traditional suit jackets to create a contemporary style. In a world of sameness be different.

WEAR, THINK, ACT! By Rashmii Amoah
CAN the clothes we wear have an influence on how we see our ourselves and, how we behave?
Two researchers, Adam Galinksy and Hajo Adam, set out to understand how people might make this connection. Labelling it enclothed cognition, the process explained in its simplest form occurs when a person wears, sees and feels on their skin and also understands the meaning society has given it. When the combination of these factors are present, it is more likely that clothing will influence self-perception and behaviour.
------
WHITE laboratory coats. Generally known as being worn by doctors and scientists, the clothing item was shown to participants. Attentiveness and carefulness were associated with this garment. From this, the researchers predicted that a when a participant wore the coat, they would see an increased performance with attention-related tasks. So what happened?
------
EXPERIMENT one found that physically wearing a lab coat increased sustained attention compared to not wearing a lab coat. Next, when described as a doctor’s coat, there was increased sustained attention compared to when described as a painter’s coat. The third experiment showed that when described as a doctor’s lab coat, wearing it increased sustained attention compared to when just seeing or identifying it being worn by a doctor. So what does this mean?
------
PHYSICAL experiences such as wearing the clothing, seeing and feeing it on your skin can trigger associated meanings society has given it. Galinsky and Hajo suggested that because of the symbolic meaning, it exerts influence on the way the wearer thinks and acts.
------
RAVENCLAN’s inclusion of Y-back, button style suspenders in its accessories range is in line with fashion’s revival of iconic items from bygone eras. Originating from 18th Century, suspenders were designed to hold up men's high-waisted trousers. That trend faded until the 1960’s when, they were reintroduced as a pairing with tight jeans that didn't need any ‘holding up’. This reflecting that the history of suspenders has evolved as a symbol of necessity to personal expression.
------
“EXPRESSION of an inner cool” is symbolic of RaVenClan’s suspenders range. “ I think they’re edgy whether in the professional context or amongst the bohemian poets and writers” says designer Sanesh Prasad. “I feel hipster guys tend to combine amazingly well the beauty of vintage fashion with modern edgy pieces to create a look that extends beyond traditional fashion boundaries”. With a 3.5 cm width, the suspenders have been intentionally designed to “take an ordinary shirt/pants outfit and turn it into funky and unique without going over the top” says Prasad.
------
WITH the present offerings of deep pink, blue with a white strip there is also experimenting underway with a camel/burnt orange colour palette suspender range. It is clear that RaVenClan is dedicated to creating an accessory that when, seen and worn by its’ clients, it synchronises with projecting the versatile and ‘inner cool’ thinking and mannerisms that is synonymous with the hipster scene.

You have 7 Seconds!
You Have 7 Seconds!
By Rashmii Amoah
7 SECONDS! According to the experts in the business world, that’s how long it takes for someone to form their first impression of you. In that short window of time, a handful of judgments are made about. Are you someone who can be trusted? Are you person who has authority? Are you someone people can get along with? Are you intelligent? Many suggestions have been made about the non verbal actions you can take to make these seven seconds favorable to you. Your fashion style is one of them. Fashion style has been long held as key in how people perceive us. But what about how clothing affects the way we think and how behave towards those same people?
ENCLOTHED COGNITION is the term coined by the two researchers who studied that very question. Dr Adam Galinsky and Hajo Adam found that the most important cause in this this effect is if we know the meaning our society has attached to item of clothing. Their study found that participants wearing coats assumed belonging to doctors, performed better in tests than did those who thought they were wearing a painter’s coat or those wearing street clothes. So what is a basic explanation of this test? You might say that society has views of doctors as being smarter and pay better attention to others than artists or those who spend their day in casual wear. But make note that the researchers claim that it is only when you wear, see and feel that item of clothing on your body will it influence your thinking process.
SO how does RaVenClan label consider the enclothed cognition process of its clients?
FREEDOM is symbolized by the Raven which the label takes form in name and logo. Designer, Sanesh Prasad, is clear that his garments are made as a direct response to gentlemen who seek a menswear brand that will highlight their appreciation and association with the Hipster culture. “ We have seen a section of society that is not afraid to meld vintage styling with contemporary pieces” says Prasad. “ I walk down streets throughout the funky parts of Brisbane and Melbourne and see beautiful classic blazers worn with skinny jeans and a funky hat. We see button-style suspender with a T-shirt”. RaVenClan is dedicated to crafting a menswear label focused on clients who want garments that allows them to see, feel and be thinking at their best in that first seven seconds.
